Maintenance Program
Many people can follow a diet and lose weight but the challenge however, comes in maintaining the weight loss. Any changes in eating and exercising behaviors must become habitual, which takes time. Many people experience the frustration of achieving a weight loss goal, only to be followed by weight regain. This not only occurs because a change in lifestyle behaviors has not fully been implemented, but also new research shows that strong hormonal influences occur as well. The maintenance program is therefore a very important treatment phase in a patient's program and is designed to assist with structured skill development, behavior modification and education.
We offer long-term support for protecting weight loss achieved from one of our other programs. Patients are educated about setting an action plan in motion so that a potential lapse does not turn into a relapse. Time between visits is dependent on the individual's needs although it is recommended that patients are seen at minimum quarterly during the first year of maintenance.
